2. Vanishing — Did you know there are still unexplored places on Earth? The Amazon is so big most of it has not even been explored yet. It contains a third of all plant and animal species and three out of four of its 40,000 plant species are endemic. It is home to more primate species than anywhere else, yet scientists have discovered five new species there in just the last 10 years! Although it abounds in ecological riches and most of it remains unexplored, it is vanishing. Over 20% of the Amazon has been lost in the last 40 years. Conservation International is working with indigenous tribes and the government of Brazil to save the Amazon. Will you help?
