7. Crocodile — Who can bite down harder than any other animal even a Great White Shark? Crocodiles! They can bite down with a force of over 5000 pounds! That’s wild! Scientists believe crocodiles are an ancient species over 200 million years old that has outlasted even the dinosaurs. Scientists believe their biology has changed little in that time. Crocodiles live throughout the tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia. They tend to congregate in fresh water habitats like rivers, lakes, wetlands and sometimes brackish waters. The caiman crocodiles of the Amazon include the Black Caiman that has been over-hunted and is now protected.
