8. Bengal  Tiger — Can you name all eight tiger subspecies? Unfortunately, the Caspian, Bali and Javan subspecies are already extinct and the other five (Bengal, South China, Indochinese, Sumatran and Siberian) are vanishing before our very eyes. The Bengals are by far the most prolific and studies suggest they make up over half of the total tiger population worldwide. Yet, there are less than 2000 remaining. Most of them are found in India, but there are small numbers in Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and China. The other subspecies exist in even smaller numbers in the regions they are named after, but tigers once roamed all over Asia.
