13. Wolf —  Can you hear your Mom or Dad yelling for you from 5 miles away? The Gray Wolf can! With a sense of hearing 20 times sharper than ours, a wolf can hear the howls of other wolves up to 10 miles away!  The Gray Wolf was once the most widely distributed predator on earth, but it was hunted almost to the point of extinction in the U.S. Over 20 years of conservation efforts and the reintroduction of the wolf to habitats like Yellowstone National Park have been very successful and the wolf is making a comeback! Now, that’s a survivor!
